A practical guide for farmers and landowners thinking about how they can slow and store water on their land

This practical guide provides clear, straightforward information on natural flood management (NFM) measures for landowners and farmers across the North West. It has been developed by organisations within the Cumbria Strategic Flood Partnership and Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) partnerships, including Eden Rivers Trust.
The guide explains what natural flood management is (NFM) and outlines a range of measures, ranked by the level of consultation, planning and design required. It also includes an indication of set-up and maintenance costs to help inform decision-making.
Covering everything from soil management and woodland creation to stabilising and re-vegetating blanket bogs, the guide explores a wide range of practical interventions, highlighting key considerations, methods and benefits for each approach.
