About the role

Are you an experienced conservation professional with the leadership skills to shape large-scale river and catchment projects? We are looking for a Conservation Manager to lead phase 1 of our new project: Re-connecting & Reviving the Caldew, supported by a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

During phase 1, you will work with farmers, landowners, partners and local communities to develop ambitious riparian conservation projects and write a capital bid that, over a further five years, will deliver a phased programme of small and large-scale riparian conservation projects to benefit rivers, wildlife and people across the Caldew catchment.

About you

This role could be for you if you:

  • Have a degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, backed up with in-depth technical knowledge and 5 years plus experience of developing and delivering large-scale habitat improvement projects on privately owned land,
  • Are confident managing budgets, reporting to funders and developing fundable project proposals.
  • Are an effective people manager and a persuasive communicator who can build trust with farmers, landowners and partners.
