Here’s something a little bit different from our usual volunteer work parties/trainings!
This is a joint event with the Wild Trout Trust and the Environment Agency where we will improve in-river habitat by installing woody debris and planting willow whips along the riverbank. Woody debris has lots of uses, such as creating new habitat and casting shade over the water (reducing the temperature for aquatic wildlife – essential in hot, sunny weather!).
Suitable for: anyone who is happy to move around through the water and along banksides that are steep in places and have no footpath.
Experience: no experience needed.
Wear/bring: gloves and wellies/waders (some waders available to borrow from ERT) old work clothes, waterproofs, drinks, snacks & lunch.
How to take part:
Let us know in advance that you’re planning to attend:
before the work party to let us know that you intend to come along so that we can confirm the meeting place and time and let you know if plans change or it is cancelled (for instance plans/venue may change if the weather forecast is bad!) and ensure we have the correct tools and equipment for everyone.
We just need your name and contact details (email/tel number). Please let us know if you have any additional needs (e.g. mobility) so that we can make adjustments to help you make the most of the day.
Exact location will be advised after you book!
