Everyone is welcome at our Big Balsam Bash weekend lets get together and get rid of this invasive, non-native plant from our riverbanks and footpaths!
Join us in Dalston for a few hours pulling out invasive, non-native Himalayan balsam to protect riverbanks and native flowers! It’s easy, fun and a good workout! Stay for an hour…or until 2.30 pm!
All ages – under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Details:
Meet: at Cairn Beck riverside footpath (where Glencairn Mill road goes over Cairn Beck).
Don’t worry if you can’t meet us at that time, look for us along Cain Beck in our high-viz vests with ‘Eden Rivers Trust’ on the back!
Wear: old clothes – long-sleeve tops, trousers, waterproofs and gardening or work gloves (we can lend you some!) Covering arms and legs is important as you might be pulling out Himalayan balsam near nettles and thistles! Wear wellies or sturdy shoes/boots.
Bring: drinks, hats, sunscreen and waterproofs (just in case) and lunch if you plan to stay all day.
