What is balsam bashing?
It’s the pulling out of invasive, non-native Himalayan balsam to protect Eden’s riverbanks and native flowers!
It’s easy, fun and a good workout!
We need as many people as possible to help – the more people come out to tackle it, the more we’ll be able to pull and the less there will be spitting out seed to grow up again next year!
Come for the morning, the afternoon or bring a packed lunch to eat in the sun (fingers crossed) and stay for the whole day!
Suitable for: anyone with a reasonable level of mobility – some areas could be a bit tricky underfoot. Families welcome, any under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Experience: no experience needed.
Wear/bring: gloves and stout footwear/wellies, old work clothes with long sleeves and trousers to protect from nettles, waterproofs, drinks & snacks.
How to take part:
Let us know in advance that you’re planning to attend:
before the Community bash to let us know that you intend to come along so that we can confirm the meeting place and time and let you know if plans change or it is cancelled (for instance plans/venue may change if the weather forecast is bad!) and ensure we have the correct tools and equipment for everyone,
We just need your name and contact details (email/tel number). Please let us know if you have any additional needs (e.g. mobility) so that we can make adjustments to help you make the most of the day and if you’re planning to come along for a couple of hours or would like to stay all day.
