Event Details:

Your help is needed! Lend a hand clearing vegetation to help nature and reveal Engine Lonning’s railway history. 

Wednesday 19th November 

Morning session: 10 am to 12 pm
Afternoon session: 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Join us for one or both sessions. 

We’ll be using ‘garden tools’ to cut back and dig. All the equipment you need will be provided. 

Wear old clothes, plenty of layers and sturdy footwear. 
Get in touch with Eden Rivers Trust on 01768 866788 
(by 5pm on the 18th) if you’d like to borrow some wellies.
Bring lunch if you’d like to join both sessions.

Meet at: the open area at bottom of Engine Lonning.

  • Where to meet:

    Engine Lonning lies to the west of Carlisle city centre, next to the River Eden, just downstream from where the River Caldew flows into it.

  • Parking:

    Please note, there isn’t any parking at, or near the woodland site. Please walk or use public transport to get here. Find us in the clearing at the end of the lane accessed from main entrance.

  • What to wear:

    Old clothes – long-sleeve tops, trousers, waterproofs and gardening or work gloves (we can lend you some!) Covering arms and legs is important. Wear wellies or sturdy shoes/boots.

  • What to bring:

    Drinks and waterproofs (just in case) and lunch if you plan to stay all day.
