Join our River Restoration Manager, Lev Dahl and Habitats Officer, Dave Greaves for an exclusive virtual tour of a couple of recently completed river restoration projects in the Upper Eden.
Bessy Gill was undertaken in partnership with the Environment Agency as part of the Cumbria River Restoration Strategy. Lev will introduce this successful scheme and the difference it has made to restoring natural rivers in Eden and throughout Cumbria.
Lev and Dave will share the work we’ve done in the Upper Eden at two contrasting locations – in the Westmorland Dales and at Lowther, taking you through the natural features you would expect to find in a healthy river.
They will explain why certain features were suitable to address the problems in a particular area and share some of the methods and techniques used in river restoration, including our cutting edge stage zero restoration at Bessy Gill.
Lev and Dave will also talk about the valuable wildlife habitat these features will create and the creatures we would expect to find there. It’s not just about habitat in the river though.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A session where you can ask them your burning questions about river restoration!
Please note, this talk is different from the one previously advertised.
