The BIG Balsam Bash: Learn and Bash!

Date: 10 July 2021 | 10am - 1pm | Sockbridge

Himalayan balsam flowers

The BIG Balsam Bash 2021 – 01 July until 11 July

If you want to rid your local patch of the hugely invasive (and alien species) Himalayan balsam but are unsure:

  • What it looks like when it’s growing (before the flowers bloom) or
  • How to pull it out and make sure it doesn’t grow again

THEN THIS IS THE EVENT FOR YOU!

Join us on Saturday 10th July for a morning with our friendly and knowledgeable staff and learn more about this invasive species – its lifecycle, what it looks like, what problems it causes for our riverbanks and native plants, when is the best time to pull it out and how to make sure it doesn’t grow back bigger and stronger!

We’ll all then go to where the balsam is growing so you can try out your newly-learnt skills and knowledge on some real-life plants. After that, you’ll be ready to tackle the balsam in your local area!

Want to know more about Himalayan balsam – watch our recent View from the Riverbank talk about Invasive, Non-native Species.(Opens in YouTube)
