It may have pretty flowers and bees love it … but Himalayan balsam is an invasive, non-native plant spreading widely through the Eden valley – and along Cairn Beck!
Join us at the river and help us pull it, bash it, beat it and smash it … until it can’t grow anymore.
Drop-in during the afternoon or after work/school for an hour or two or longer!
Meet at 2,15pm at the bridge in Broadwath (if arriving for the 2.30pm start time), or find us on the riverside footpath towards Heads Nook.
No special equipment needed, this activity is suitable for everybody.
Please wear wellies/boots and trousers with long-sleeved tops. Bring gloves if you have them (we have a few pairs we can lend).
Bring along a picnic nibble and we will bring the light refreshments!
Please email Jenni Payne, Volunteer Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01768 866788 to let her know that you’re coming (in case plans change!)
