Natural Capital Farm Walk at Sewborwens Farm and Abbott Lodge Farm for members of the River Petteril and Lowther/Leith Facilitation Fund groups
This farm walk is being hosted by the River Petteril and River Lowther and Leith Facilitation Funds in conjunction with Askham Bryan College and Messrs Bland. The objective is to cover how we can begin to evaluate Natural Capital values on our farms from air, water and soils and to build on the knowledge gained from our visit to Barrock End Farm in October.
Speakers: Andy Dyer, ERT, Andy Howard, Pennine Forestry, Jim Egan, Kings Seeds.
Group members should please arrive at Sewborwens Farm for 9.30 – 10.00 am for the farm walk and discussion on air and water quality. We will then drive to Abbott Lodge Farm for a buffet lunch (approx. 12.30 pm) which is to be followed with a talk by Andy Howard from Pennine Forestry about Natural Capital from trees and hedgerows and current government initiatives.
This will be followed by a farm walk and talk with Jim Egan who will talk us through how we can assess areas on our farms to benefit wildlife, conserve and protect resources and create habitats. Jim will also be talking about soils and the minimum/no-tillage approach to crop establishment. The aim is to be finished by around 3.30 pm. We shall be outdoors for some of the day so please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
Contact Andy Dyer/Sarah Kidd at Eden Rivers Trust by 5pm on Friday 6th December to book your place.
