Date: Sat 20 July | 10 am - 3.30 pm | Warcop

DOWNLOAD and print our event poster. Anything you can do to help us publicise our Balsam Bashes helps us to increase our volunteer numbers and banish the Balsam!

Everyone is welcome at our Warcop Balsam Bash. Lets get together and get rid of this invasive, non-native plant from our riverbanks and footpaths!

Join us in Warcop for a few hours pulling out invasive, non-native Himalayan balsam to protect riverbanks and native flowers! It’s easy, fun and a good workout! Stay for an hour…or until 3.30 pm!

All ages – under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Details:

Meet: Meet near the stile at the beginning of the riverbank footpath to Sandford – NY 73847 15994 / ~
w3w digitally.mystery.betraying at 10 am (10 min walk from hall). Park at Warcop Parish Hall.

We’ll walk along footpath to Sandford – long steep bank to river in places and rough, tall vegetation. Look for us in our high-viz vests with ‘Eden Rivers Trust’ on the back if you’re meeting up with us after 10 am. We’ll also be putting up ‘Balsam boxes’ along the route, providing information points for walkers to find out more about this invader and how they can help to rid our river banks of the menace.

Wear: old clothes – long-sleeve tops, trousers, waterproofs and gardening or work gloves (we can lend you some!) Covering arms and legs is important as you might be pulling out Himalayan balsam in nettles and thistles! Wear wellies or sturdy shoes/boots.

Bring: drinks, hats, sunscreen and waterproofs (just in case) and lunch if you plan to stay all day.
