Go Wild Beat No18 Scandal Beck, Smardale Mill
1750m right bank fishing, 450m left bank fishing
This is a long section of the Scandal Beck, which starts below Smardale Mill and finishes at the Smardale viaduct. This river does not always have large amounts of cover so it is probably best fished when there is a bit of colour in the water or when the river is running higher than usual.
There should be some wild, easily spooked upland brownies in the river; make sure any catches are recorded on the catch return form.
Go Wild is our innovative roving voucher angling scheme. We have 28 challenging fishing beats spread throughout Cumbria’s beautiful Eden valley. The beats are all on private land, accessible only via the Go Wild scheme and are all real hidden gems.
Go Wild has been designed to provide a sustainable income for farmers and landowners, focusing particularly on stretches of river where habitat improvement work has been carried out.
